DMI Amalgamates the Two Sawmills

Brewster Construction Ltd. and High Level Forest Products Ltd., subsidiary companies of DMI for close to a decade, were recently amalgamated into the company on January 1, 1999.

The two sawmills now join Peace River Pulp as DMI Divisions. The amalgamation changes the subsidiary status of the sawmills since there are no longer tax advantages attached to them being separate, limited companies. Most of the change took place on paper. The only immediate difference the two sawmills are going to experience is a legal and corporate name change.
